If you are often away from home and seek a viable option to control your computer remotely, Screens is the App for you. This also has been recently updated with interesting news.
Screens is a vnc client that allows you, in just a few taps, access to your PC / Mac remotely. Another very interesting thing, for those vnc unfamiliar with the application, is that it is universal, ie, once purchased, can be used on the iPad, iPhone / iTouch.

The vnc (Virtual Network Computing) is a protocol that allows remote control of other computers, those are Mac, Windows or Linux.
In practice it can be seen in a window on your Mac screen of another computer and you can interact with. The system consists of a server that sends the information screen and a client part that displays and interacts. The good part is that the Mac integrate internally the server side (Apple Remote Desktop) and you just have the client software to use this system.
A program I’m using a lot in this period for the management of my prototype of the Mac Media Center “Chiken of the vnc“. Although the name suggests anything but a program, I can vnc assure you that it does its job as a vnc client. The program is not recent but very stable.
It ‘easy to configure. First of all is installed on your Mac from which we want to control, for example, another Mac
Once you start choosing the Connection menu, and set new connection as follows:

where Host is the IP address of the machine we want to control (server) and your password is the password protection of the link.
Before Clik to connect must also configure the server machine. Just go to System Preferences> Sharing> Services and tick the Apple Remote Desktop. Obviously to make the changes necessary to login as administrator.

Sometimes it can be really useful to make a remote connection to your computer when you are not at home, well a few hours before it was released vnc Viewer, along with Teamviewer, is one of the most popular remote control software.
The new application for the mobile platform from Google house has been included in the Android Market.
Andy Harter, CEO at RealVNC, has issued the following statement: “After the great success of vnc Viewer on iPhone and iPad, we are happy to announce the launch vnc of the application for Android terminals. The platform users can now connect remotely to your PC quickly and cost-effectively. ”
vnc Viewer can run on practically any version of Android (1.6 or higher) and has been developed to exploit the trackpad on smart phones that have it.

As I wrote in another post you can access your Mac remotely, but if you want to control your Mac from a Windows system?
One immediate solution is to use a famous software for the Microsoft world, Real vnc , this application allows you to add the VNC protocol to Windows systems.
Real vnc I suggest you download the free version, the software is also available for GNU / Linux.
During installation, you can choose the modules to be installed, by default installs the server and the vnc viewer,
a choice that I advise you to be able to make more operations possible.
After installation you can use the Viewer going to call Run vnc Viewer from the Programs menu / RealVNC / vnc Viewer 4,
to connect you just enter the IP address of the server and, after pressing OK, you will need to identify themselves with a password of your choice.
With the program Real vnc Viewer, you can also change the connection options,
in fact if you press the Options before you connect you can have different formats in configurations where you can change the behavior of the vnc viewer.
